*Apr 28, 2015 Here's what said Mumin Shakirov about journey to California with a screening of the documentary "Holocaust - Is That Wallpaper Paste?":

"Over my three-week journey across America: New York, Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, Davis, Berkeley, Palo Alto, Cupertino, Mountain view (Silicon valley) and San Francisco.

Unforgettable meetings and discussions with students and teachers of universities, colleges, with students, with members of the Jewish cultural centers and communities - just with fans of documentary films.

Russian and American audiences have reacted differently to the picture "Holocaust - Is That Wallpaper Paste?". Without applause I haven't left the scene.

In short, the Americans, after watching the movie, to put it mildly wondered how in Russian schools teach history, asked why the younger generation knows so little about the Holocaust, our former compatriots, were less surprised, realizing that today in Russia prefer to talk about the victory over the enemy, and not on the causes of the tragedy and huge loss of life."

*Apr 5, 2015 - San Diego, University of California (UCSD) hosted a viewing of the documentary film "Holocaust – Is That Wallpaper Paste?" and meeting with its director, journalist of Radio "Liberty" - Mumin Shakirov.

The film was shown in Russian with English subtitles.

The young twins Ksenia and Evgenia Karatigina, while participating on the trivia show “Crazy Beautiful”, when asked the question "What is the Holocaust?" replied: “Isn't it paste for wallpaper?”.

Instead of mocking the girls for their lack of knowledge, Mumin Shakirov organized a trip to Auschwitz for them to discover the answer for themselves.

The girls’ story in this film becomes a portrait of their generation, which has no idea about the crimes committed by the Nazis. We are faced with a phenomenon that is much more complex than “Holocaust denial”: an absence of knowledge about it.

This problem is present not only in Russia. In Europe, the United States and even Israel, many members of the younger generation prefer not to learn about this topic.
